How to Get a Refund from Amazon
How to Get a Refund from Amazon After Cancelling an Order
Amazon makes placing an order nearly too simple at times. If you've made a mistake or just changed your mind about an order, we'll teach you how to cancel it and get your money back.
The General Rules of Amazon Refunds
Before we get into canceling, let's take a look at how Amazon handles cancellations at different phases of an order.
It's conceivable that Amazon hasn't begun processing your purchase yet if you ordered it within the previous 20 minutes or even an hour. The firm does not charge your payment method until your item is sent, so if you cancel before it is shipped, you should not be charged.
Once your order has started processing, Amazon will notify you that it is not possible to cancel it. You can try to cancel an order, which is generally effective, but it's conceivable that your order will still be shipped.
You can no longer cancel an order once it has shipped. You can still return it, so don't worry. It's considerably easier if the box is unopened, but even if you've opened it, you can usually return the contents to Amazon for a full refund.
How to Cancel an Amazon Order That Hasn’t Shipped
You may typically cancel your purchase before it is charged if it hasn't shipped or is still in the process of delivery, as described above. If Amazon has already placed a hold on your card, it should be released after you cancel your order.
Cancel an Amazon Order on Your Computer
Open the Amazon website in your preferred browser. If you haven't already done so, sign in to your account by clicking the "Hello, Sign in" button. Select "Returns & Orders" in the top-right corner of the window once you've logged in.
Now find the order you want to cancel and cancel it. Once you've found it, go to the right side and click the "Cancel items" button. Select the goods in the order you want to cancel on the following page.
The reason for cancellation can be selected in the dropdown box on the left side of the screen, however this is optional. Click the "Cancel selected products in this order" button once you've picked the item or things you want to cancel.
Cancel an Amazon Order Using Your Mobile Phone or Tablet
Open the Amazon app on your phone or tablet if you have one. Otherwise, use your device's web browser to access the Amazon website. If you haven't already, log in in either instance.
Tap the bottom-of-the-screen symbol that looks like a person in the app.
Then choose "Your Orders" from the drop-down menu.
Press your name next to the person symbol in the top-right corner of the screen on the Amazon website, then tap the "Track & Manage Orders" option.
To complete your purchase cancellation, tap the "Cancel checked products" button at the bottom of the screen.
How to Get a Refund on an Amazon Order After It Ships
You won't be able to cancel an order that has already delivered, but that doesn't mean you have to accept it. Whether an item is damaged when it comes, you receive the incorrect item, or you simply decide you don't want the purchase by the time it arrives, you may return it for a full refund in most cases.
Go to the Amazon orders page on the web or in the Amazon app to get started. Locate the order that you want to cancel. Click "Return or Replace Items" on a PC. On a mobile device, tap the order, then at the bottom of the screen, hit "Return or replace products."
Choose the things you want to return, then the reason you're returning them. Now select "Continue" from the drop-down menu. Choose how you wish to get your refund on the following page. The payment can be reimbursed to your original payment method or to your Amazon balance.
Return to the previous screen and choose "Continue," then follow the prompts to print a return label and complete the return procedure. You'll have a window to return your things for a full refund after this is completed.
It's worth noting that Amazon has a one-month return window, so if you want to return something, you'll need to act immediately.
What About Digital Orders and Rentals?
When it comes to digital purchases, things are a little different than when it comes to real items. In the majority of circumstances, you may quickly cancel any unintended purchases and receive a refund. You won't be able to request a refund if you purchased a book, movie, or other digital item on purpose and are unhappy with it.
Go to Amazon's Your Orders page, either on your computer or on your mobile device, to receive a refund on an unintentional digital purchase. Here, go to Digital Orders and look for the item you bought by accident.
Select Cancel Your Order or Return for Refund once you've discovered it, then add a reason for cancellation if desired. You're outside the return window if you can't cancel the item. Customer service is your greatest hope in this situation. If you return digital orders too frequently, Amazon may limit your capacity to do so.
