Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Processor Specifications

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 isn't meant to compete with Qualcomm's flagship processors, instead it's expected to appear in mid-range devices that are looking to deliver solid performance without having to pay a high price. The processor consists of a 1+3+4-core architecture, with a main core clocked at 2.5GHz, accompanied by three performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and four efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is based on a 4nm manufacturing process, and includes a Kryo CPU, Adreno GPU, and an integrated neural processing unit for artificial intelligence. Qualcomm says the CPU is 20% more powerful, and the GPU is capable of achieving a 40% improvement over the previous model. Power consumption is also reduced by 12%.

The NPU is capable of handling multilingual tasks like translation and transcription, as well as other contextual detection tasks. Qualcomm boasts AI noise cancellation capabilities in this unit, and the AI portion of the processor appears to deliver a performance boost of up to two times over the small NPU that Qualcomm was using in the sensor center.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 seems to be able to handle a triple-camera setup in devices with 21MP or less. If there are only two cameras, it could be a 23MP+21MP setup, which should allow the processor to handle 10-bit HDR photos and 4K video recording. The processor also supports FHD+ displays with a 144Hz refresh rate, which is promising.

The processor will be able to take advantage of 5G mmWave and Wi-Fi 6E networks, and Qualcomm confirms that the new processor supports a greater number of networks and bandwidth globally compared to the previous version. Qualcomm indicates that companies such as Realme, Samsung, Sharp, and Xiaomi are expected to use the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 in their upcoming devices “in the coming months.”
