2024 Olympic Men's Gymnastics: Results, Scores, and Medalists in Rings

When it comes to the men's rings event at the Olympics, Liu Yang of China remains the gold standard.

In a triumphant performance at the 2024 Paris Games, the accomplished gymnast defended his title from the 2020 Tokyo Games, scoring 15.300. This allowed him to secure victory over his fellow countryman, Zou Jingyuan, and Greece's Eleftherios Petrounias.

Zou earned the silver medal with a score of 15.233, whereas Petrounias claimed the bronze with a score of 15.100.

Below are the complete results:

Liu Yang, China: 15.300
Zou Jingyuan, China: 15.233
Eleftherios Petrounias, Greece: 15.100
Samir Aït Saïd, France: 15.000
Adem Asil, Türkiye: 14.966
Vahagn Davtyan, Armenia: 14.866

As the competition unfolded, the rivalry between Liu and Zou was intense, with Liu as the defending champion and Zou having excelled in the qualification round. Additionally, both athletes entered the final with a difficulty score of 6.400, making the focus shift to their execution in the routine.

Liu achieved a score of 8.900, outperforming the silver medalist, who recorded a mark of 8.833.

The impressive performances in Sunday’s competition went beyond just the gold and silver medalists.

Petrounias secured a bronze medal, enhancing his impressive Olympic credentials, with a difficulty score of 6.300, surpassing France’s Samir Aït Saïd, who had a difficulty score of 6.100. This higher score provided the Greek gymnast with a slight buffer for execution errors.

This proved to be crucial, as he concluded with a total score of 15.100, clinching the bronze by just .100 points.

In addition, Petrounias had previously won gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and a bronze in Tokyo.

The three medalists triumphed in a final that featured eight competitors, none of whom were American. While the U.S. women have dominated gymnastics events in Paris, no American gymnast managed to qualify for the rings final on Sunday.
