Star Wars Outlaws Game Review
The Star Wars universe is one of the most important worlds that have been designed not only in the world of games but among all works of art in general. The world is very rich and has many details that enable a creator to create new and unique combinations always in the same world. Among these new combinations is the Star Wars Outlaws game , which represents the latest game titles whose events take place in the distinctive Star Wars universe.
Star Wars Outlaws comes to us from the development of the Massive Entertainment team and published by Ubisoft . In fact, this time the game will provide us with an experience that we are exposed to for the first time in Star Wars games, because this time the game takes us on a journey completely far from the Jedi and the traditional Star Wars conflict that was presented in many previous games.
This time we will play as a character called Kai, who is, by the way, a normal girl who is not a Jedi and is not involved in this famous conflict that we have followed in the famous movies and most of the games related to the game. Also, the game represents a completely new experience because it comes to us from the publishing company Ubisoft, which is a very new title for the giant company. Now let's move on to the details of our experience with the game and what it has offered us.
Star Wars Outlaws Game Story
Star Wars Outlaws offers a narrative gaming experience with a gameplay that revolves around adventure and action. Returning to the story, we find that we are facing a heroine named Kai Face, who is a thief who lives almost alone as she was raised by her mother and throughout her journey she is accompanied by a pet named Nix.
Nyx is not considered a pet, but he can be considered part of Kai's family, or we can say that he is Kai's entire family, as he is the being that Kai cares about the most, and in return, Nyx serves Kai with all passion and loyalty and cannot betray her under any reason.
Returning to the story, we find that our heroine is involved in many conflicts with a group of local gangs, which forces her to accept a very large robbery in order to obtain an amount of money that will enable her to escape forever and start a new life.
The operation that Cass is involved in suddenly fails and here Kay gets involved in much bigger problems and becomes pursued by armed groups and tribes that are much stronger than the gangs that were pursuing her at first. After that, the events move as Kay tries to collect as much money as possible to achieve her dream and escape and start a completely new life away from all these problems.
This is the skin of the Star Wars Outlaws story because the game takes us into many branches and conflicts that are very good, which makes the game a dramatic narrative experience in the first place, but despite the quality of the story, it could have been much better, because throughout the life of the game our heroine revolves in her own crisis, and here the game gives up very big opportunities to present a much heavier story, exploiting the wonderful Star Wars world.
Star Wars Outlaws World
The game takes us to a world that we see for the first time in Star Wars games and at the same time is very familiar. The whole idea is that the game takes us to the streets and side stories in the Star Wars world, away from the Jedi and the conflict between the Empire and the rebels. We interact for the first time with the stories and tales of the groups that we see in the movies, and in fact this point is considered one of the game's strengths.
We are talking here about the Star Wars game, so expect that you will move between several planets, and in each planet you will notice a different and distinctive environment, and this different environment extends to all elements of the planet, from the type of intelligent beings present on the planet, or even the clans that control the planet, and of course the environment of each planet, so you will find a desert planet and another icy one, and so on.
Clans in the game
Star Wars Outlaws is based on the idea of clans, as the game contains a group of main clans, and you in turn interact with these clans and deal with them. Your interaction with each clan is supposed to affect your reputation system, especially since the interests of the clans are always conflicting.
Here, Kay performs many tasks for each clan and has complete freedom in choosing how to deal with these tasks, which affects her relationship with each clan. The more your relationship with a particular clan increases, the more you will be able to obtain distinctive tools from the merchants of this clan or enter its areas of influence with ease.
In fact, these advantages that each clan offers do not affect the gameplay and will not make Kai's character very distinctive, meaning that most likely everyone will customize Kai's character in almost the same way, and by the way, this is not a flaw at all.
The clan system in the game does not care about serving the role-playing elements of Kai's character, because the game originally offers an adventure and action experience and not role-playing, so you do not improve your relationship with a specific clan to obtain a specific tool or weapon, similar to other games that offer a reputation system.
The whole idea here is that the clan system is originally there to serve the dramatic experience the game offers, and I personally experienced this wonderfully. At the beginning of the game, I felt drawn towards a clan called Crimson Dawn, and I actually performed some tasks for the clan and improved my relationship with it greatly, which made my relationship with the Pyke clan greatly deteriorate because the requests of the first clan conflicted with the latter.
After that, my relationship with the Crimson Dawn clan began to become very tense because the clan began to take steps that I saw as immoral or at least for me I rejected them and here I began to rebel against this loyalty and became more inclined towards a clan called Ashiga, and here the Crimson Dawn clan turned into almost an enemy.
Throughout all of these transitions I was very drawn to the dramatic choices the game offers which really impact the gameplay experience greatly because they are related to your choices in missions and what you will choose, thus different endings to missions and perhaps a different gameplay experience between each player.
I enjoyed this whole experience without caring about the weapons or rewards that you will get from each clan. We are here in front of a dramatic experience and not a role-playing game that depends on collecting the rarest pieces and the most powerful weapons. The purpose of everything in the game is to serve the drama in the game and continue Kai's journey and you want to know what will happen to her next. By the way, at the same time there are some rewards and advantages that you get through your cooperation with each clan.
Genius quest submission system
In fact, Star Wars Outlaws offers a unique and ingenious mission system, as it is different from the usual mission system from Ubisoft. The game offers a completely free mission system, and here when we say free, we mean the word in the real sense.
You can choose any mission you want to do, there is no specific order in the main missions that are open or playable, but the real revolution lies in the missions of the game world and the side missions, as these missions come through your interaction with the game world itself.
As time passes within the game, you will interact with many secondary characters, and these characters will offer side missions, but in the form of circulated information, just information that you hear or interact with, and in the end it remains your pure desire whether you want to do it or not, and the same thing is repeated with the clan missions and work contracts that you seek.
Star Wars Outlaws Gameplay
Star Wars Outlaws offers an action-adventure experience in an open world. Overall, the game offers a stealth and platforming experience, along with some action and combat. Here, we see that the Star Wars idea itself helped create an environment that can accommodate many game modes at once.
Stealth is the lifeblood of Star Wars Outlaws.
Returning to our heroine "Kai", we find that she is just a thief, as she does not possess any supernatural skills nor does she master the arts of the Jedi, and therefore she relies on her skills as a thief to achieve her goals, and therefore the game focuses on stealth to a very large extent.
Our heroine "Kai" always tries to enter very fortified places to obtain certain pieces or tools that are intended for the story, and therefore this penetration must be done quietly and in the shadows, because most of the time the number of enemies is very large and it would be foolish to confront them.
The game often forces you to sneak and does not give you the freedom to fight and confront, because many missions require you not to be detected or not to raise the alarm, and therefore even if you are excellent at fighting and have special skills, you will not be able to confront in all cases because the game puts you in a linear mold and asks you to sneak most of the time.
Stealth in the game is based on a set of well-known stereotypes such as eliminating enemies from behind, hiding in the grass, hiding through smoke, and moving from one point to another without being noticed by any of the enemies.
Here it is worth noting that the artificial intelligence in this game is very excellent and very stupid at the same time. If you need to be discovered or seen by an enemy, this enemy will continue to pursue you to make sure you are there in a very intelligent way. In general, the enemies are formed in an excellent way once you are discovered, which makes you feel how good the artificial intelligence is. However, in cases of stealth, you sometimes also feel the stupidity of the enemies. You can get rid of an enemy and his colleague next to him just because you get rid of the enemy from behind, even if it happens in the same room or a few steps away.
Comrade Nix
As we mentioned before, Kai is accompanied by a loyal creature called Nix. In fact, Nix is one of the most important additions to the game, as you can use it during the game to a very large extent, and it has a very pivotal role in the way you pass missions.
Nyx can do a number of things, such as bringing you a tool, distracting your opponent, or even attacking the enemy so that Kai can finish off the enemy with deadly blows, or you can even use Nyx to solve puzzles as he can reach narrow and distant places and open doors from the other side.
The presence of Nix generally has a huge impact on the way the gameplay is presented within the Star Wars Outlaws universe and gives some freedom in terms of how to complete the mission. For example, you can use Nix to lure an enemy and get rid of him. However, here it should be noted that the game generally offers a linear experience and there is always only one solution to overcome the obstacle or puzzle, so you must understand the puzzle and use Nix and Kai's abilities correctly so that it does not waste time.
Fighting in the game
Although the game focuses on stealth and using Nyx's abilities, it does have a combat and aiming system. Kai has a laser weapon that can be modified and developed, and this weapon can fire 3 distinct types of shots: burning laser shots, lightning, and explosive laser shots.
Direct combat is the last option you can resort to in the game, especially since it is very difficult, and enemies surround you from everywhere and can shoot from a distance, but after a period of playing, your performance in combat will improve and you may resort to more direct confrontations.
The whole idea is about moving a lot on the map during combat, if you decide to stand at a certain point and fight, the enemies will most likely surround you and attack you from every direction, and do not forget that you can use Nyx during combat. Kai can also carry weapons that the enemies lose, and we recommend using these weapons from time to time, but do not underestimate the importance of Kai's laser pistol, as this pistol, after a number of developments, will be very important during combat.
In general, the combat in the game is not impressive at all and does not offer revolutionary ideas. Sometimes it is fun, other times it is random, and sometimes it is boring or too simple.
Puzzles and Platforms
Besides the stealth and combat system, the game adopts a very focused platform experience, traditional but essential, at all times Kay tries to get from point to point and this journey requires overcoming some obstacles using our heroine's climbing and jumping abilities.
The platforming system in the game is very traditional and has been introduced in many popular games, you will have certain places that are used for platforming and these places are highlighted in yellow in our game, these yellow dots enable Kai to jump, swing or do some platforming depending on the situation.
You can also use your companion Nyx to get past some of the platforming obstacles, such as sending Nyx to press a button, which results in a small bridge appearing, and Kay can jump over it to the other side and then bring Nyx back again, and so on.
Despite the stereotypical platforming in the game, it is very enjoyable, because it depends on the feeling of satisfaction after the achievement more than the feeling of challenge while doing it, and most of the time the platforming is in high and huge areas, which gives you a feeling of awe while doing it.
Besides the platforming, this game has some of the best side puzzles I've ever seen in a game , the ones I'm talking about are decoding a computer or opening a door with a screwdriver, these activities aren't new to the gaming world and many games have done them but the way they're done in Star Wars Outlaws is really fun, it's based on a bunch of really fun mini games.
For example, opening doors is based on a rhythm game where you have to press a button in sync with a certain musical rhythm, this rhythm varies and becomes more complex according to the difficulty of opening the door. As for hacking the computer, it is represented by a simple but fun game almost like Sega where you try to collect certain symbols in a certain frame.
Actually I always hate these kind of activities in games because they are always boring and just a waste of time, but in this game these activities were really fun and made you feel like you are actually hacking the computer or opening the door.
Graphics, audio, performance
I don't know exactly the quality of the graphics in this game because it is very different. In some scenes you see the world drawn beautifully and with a lot of details, but at the same time you find a problem in drawing the features of the characters within the game.
If we want to simplify things, we can say that the graphics in Star Wars Outlaws are very good, but they are not revolutionary and do not display any new or unique technical capabilities. It is similar to the game Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, which was also developed by Massive Entertainment.
Here I want to point out the graphics related to outer space while driving the vehicle, because these graphics were actually very enjoyable and were designed in a way that is comfortable for the eye and at the same time makes you believe that you are actually inside space.
As for the audio, the game has an excellent soundtrack with very acceptable voice acting for almost all characters. Our heroine, Kay, could have been better in terms of voice acting, but in the end she delivered what was required of her.
Here we come to the biggest problem of the game and we are talking about performance, the game is very heavy and needs powerful hardware and it is worth noting that the game needs SSD storage capacity and will not work on a hard disk of any type, the game is very heavy and drains the graphics card to the last drop and therefore I think that if your device's hardware does not meet the minimum operating requirements then it is better to leave the game and not buy it.
In addition to the game draining resources, there are some very annoying glitches and technical problems, these problems really affected my experience, for example, I got stuck in one of the missions for a very long time, I was supposed to activate an electric capacitor and escape from a giant monster chasing me, and I remained stuck in this area for about an hour unable to discover the location of the electric capacitor, the game kept giving me an indication of the location and location of the capacitor and when I reached the point I did not see the capacitor.
I lost hope and closed the game and when I opened it again I found the capacitor in its place this time and I realized that the game was suffering from a glitch or a technical glitch, this glitch is not the only glitch that I was exposed to as I was exposed in my experience to about 4 technical glitches that directly affected my gameplay or my experience in general.
All these problems are nothing compared to the game not s This is very sad because the game has a lot of information and it also provides a dramatic experience, meaning that you must understand what is happening on the screen in order to enjoy it. This is incomprehensible and unacceptable because our Arab region has become a central and main market for the world of gaming industry.
Conclusion
Star Wars Outlaws was able to provide a completely new perspective on Star Wars games. For the first time, we actually play as a character on the fringes of this world, a character that makes us dive into the depths of the Star Wars world. The game provided a very beautiful dramatic experience with the addition of the amazing Nyx, which greatly improved the gaming experience.
At the same time, Star Wars Outlaws has some errors. The fighting style could have been better than what the game has provided us.
