The French government distances itself from the judge's decisions. Emmanuel Macron is immersed in his own political battle after the French elections. Regarding this arrest, the French president explained that France is "committed to freedom of expression and communication" and that this arrest "was made within the framework of an ongoing judicial investigation." He added that "this is in no way a political decision, and it is up to the judges to decide."
