Samsung RH69B8941S9 refrigerator specifications

The Samsung RH69B8941S9 refrigerator can be transformed into a large refrigerator side by side, which is an ultra-flexible American-style refrigerator. It's not as deep as many of its competitors, but it's still packed into a smart hidden water dispenser and jug, while SpaceMax technology means the insulation is thinner so that the interior space is not compromised. As with many large freezers, operating costs are quite high.

Key features

This is written as an American-style refrigerator with a freezer on the left (although it can be converted into a refrigerator) and a refrigerator on the right.

Capacity area 645 liters, divided by 403 liters of refrigerator space and 242 liters of freezer space.

Introduction

While a water dispenser and ice maker can be useful attributes in a refrigerator, they can spoil the exterior, as well as not be the healthiest. The RH69B8941S9 is different from Samsung, as it has a smaller secret door in the front that opens onto the beverage center that houses a water dispenser and a jug.

Add flexible storage, two types of ice and excellent temperature control, this is a flexible and sturdy American-style refrigerator freezer.

Design and features

Smart bottle rack/rack

Beverage center inside the front door

Lots of space inside

American-style freezer refrigerator, with the freezer on the left and the refrigerator on the right, Samsung RH69B8941S9 is a fairly large model. With a size of 1780× 912 × 716 mm, this model is as wide and tall as most competitors, but not as deep.

With Samsung's SpaceMax technology, insulation in the walls is thinner than competing models, so there is already more space inside, with a total of 645 liters of space, divided between 403 liters of refrigerator space and 242 liters of freezer space. This is more than 10 liters of total area compared to LG GSXV90MCDE, which is deeper.

Although there is one large door to the refrigerator, you feel inside the edge, and there is a latch to open half the door to reach the center of Beveredge. There is a standard water filter dispenser, which supplies filtered water from your mains source. Since this dispenser is washable and airtight away from the outside world, it will also be healthier.

There is also a 1.4-liter jug inside, which can be set to be filled automatically. I found it easy to get a jug of cold water ready to use, plus it has an infusion holder inside so I can flavor the water with fruits and herbs. They're dishwasher safe too, so they're easy to clean afterwards.

Through this small door, there is space to access the things in the central door pocket. I could have squeezed into a 1-liter milk carton, but longer bottles wouldn't fit. This shelf is useful for standard items, such as beverage cans, ketchup and the like, as they can be accessed without opening the main refrigerator.

Inside the door there are four door pockets. One has a hole in the place where the jug goes, leaving a rather impractical space at the end, suitable only for the smallest items. The other three are well sized, although larger items should go at the bottom.

In the main area there are four main shelves and a bottle rack. Well, I say shelf, but it represents a shelf with indentations that make it more useful than an ordinary shelf: bottles of any shape and size are appropriate, plus this doubles as an ordinary shelf.

I had to put my 2-liter bottles of lemonade in the back (lids facing the back of the refrigerator), as the caps hit the door pocket and stopped the refrigerator door from closing. Of course, the exact size and shape of the bottles will make a difference.

There are two drawers of a suitable size at the bottom, but humidity controls are not available.

The freezer section is well sized, has three shelves and two large drawers in the main unit. Each shelf is wide enough to take a regular pizza.

Samsung distributes ice RH69B8941S9 in two parts. The side on the left is Ice Bites (small pieces) and the other side for larger cubes. There's even a scoop to help get them out. I absolutely like this approach, as I found it to be faster to get ice compared to using a slow dispenser built into the refrigerator door.

Three door pockets are a good size and large enough for fish finger boxes or ice cream. It's easier to quickly access some items, rather than having to look through the shelf.

The bottom pocket is small. I think it's better than nothing but it's not very practical for most things. I have a wine collar to cool a suitable wine bottle there, but I'm not sure I necessarily need a dedicated pocket for that.

What's particularly smart about this freezer refrigerator is how the space is used. Instead of a regular refrigerator, the freezer section can be converted into a refrigerator, doubling the amount of space you get, despite the loss of ice that will melt. However, this offers plenty of fridge space and more flexibility than you normally get with convertible freezer refrigerators: the Hitachi R-WB640VGB1 can only have one part of two freezer compartments converted into a refrigerator.

And you can turn Samsung RH69B8941S9 into a mini refrigerator: the main refrigerator turns off to save energy, using the smaller freezer section as a refrigerator.

Very stable refrigerator control

The freezer is slightly colder than the set

Extremely expensive to operate

I test freezers in the same way, and prepare them with automatic door openings, and with ubiquitous temperature sensors to measure temperature fluctuations. I set the refrigerator to 4°C, and found that the temperatures were similar across the entire refrigerator from top to bottom.

With an average temperature of 3.19°C, Samsung RH69B8941S9 was 0.8°C below the target temperature. However, the standard deviation showed that temperatures fluctuate only +/- 0.38 ° C from this average, which shows how incredibly stable this refrigerator is. Standard deviation 1 is a good thing, so a standard deviation below that is exceptional.

Moving to the freezer, temperatures were, again, stable from top to bottom, with an overall average of -19.96 ° C, which is 1.96 ° C cooler than the -18 ° C I set. Here, the average standard deviation showed that temperatures fluctuate mostly +/- 1 ° C than average, which is very good.

This is a frost-free refrigerator, and during the test I did not find any accumulation of ice.

As is usual in a large refrigerator, the Samsung RH69B8941S9 is not cheap to operate and has a class E power rating. It is set to draw 350 watts of power per year, with my tests coming up with something similar, this freezer will cost around £119 per year to run, with a total operating cost per litre of £0.18.

For much lower operating costs, you should use a smaller device, such as the Hotpoint H9X 94T SX with a width of 60 cm .
