How to delete or deactivate your Instagram account
Tired of Instagram? For some reason, do you want to delete or suspend your account? In this tutorial, we will show you step by step how to make your profile disappear. A very simple maneuver that takes no more than five minutes to observe at hand.
Instagram is the social network par excellence. Affecting all generations, it allows you to post photos and videos to its subscribers. With over a billion users in 2022, it is the playground of choice for communication between influencers and celebrities. Each user has his interests that he follows diligently. However, it may happen that you simply want to delete your Instagram account to say goodbye to the social network.
There are two ways to disappear from Instagram. You can deactivate your account, which produces the same deletion effects, but temporarily and reversible. If you choose to permanently delete your account, note that it will no longer be possible to undo it.
HOW TO DEACTIVATE AN INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT
- DEACTIVATE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT FROM PC
- Open your web browser and launch the Instagram page
- Enter your credentials
- Click on the profile icon located at the top right of the window, then on Settings
- Select Temporarily deactivate my account
Then enter your password to verify your choice
DEACTIVATE YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT FROM A SMARTPHONE
Go to Instagram.com
Now click on your profile picture (bottom right), then on the sprocket (top left)
Go to the Edit Profile tab
Press the command temporarily deactivate the account
Choose one of the available justifications
Enter your password to confirm the operation and click Deactivate the account temporarily
Please note, if you have several accounts in your balance (personal and professional account for example), be aware that no more than one account per week can be deactivated. Important details to consider if you are in this situation.
HOW TO PERMANENTLY DELETE AN INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT
To permanently delete your account on both your smartphone and computer, follow these steps:
Open the dedicated account deletion page on Instagram
Enter your username and password if you are not already logged in
You are given a list to explain the reasons for your departure. Select the one that seems most suitable to you.
Enter your password for the last time
Click the button labeled Permanently delete my account
Once you make this last click, your Instagram account will be permanently deleted. If you want to become part of this community again later, you will need to create a brand new account. Say goodbye to all your photos and videos.
How to download your data before deleting the account
It's possible to keep your photos before deleting your account. This time, this operation can be done from the Android or iOS app. Here's what to do:
Go to Settings at the top right
Now click on Security
Then tap Download your data
All your data will be emailed to you to the virtual address of your account. However, it is possible to fill in another one if you wish.
HOW TO REACTIVATE YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT
If you prefer to choose to temporarily deactivate your account, know that you can easily regain access to your Instagram profile. To do this, nothing simpler. All you have to do is log in again with your username and password. Be careful, however, if you validate the final closure of your account, know that you have a maximum period of 30 days to withdraw and recover your account.
