Best foldable smartphones: which one to choose in 2025?
Foldable smartphones have come a long way in recent years. It's more reliable and its prices are a bit accessible now, although it's still in the top tier of more expensive smartphones. If you like this concept, here are the best models available in the market.
Our pick of the best foldable smartphones in 2025
In the late nineties and early 2000s, foldable phones were at the height of their popularity. Eclipsed by the advent of touch screens, it gradually returned to the center stage. This is thanks to the arrival of flexible screens that changed the game and paved the way for foldable smartphones. If there was any doubt about why they existed when the first model was launched, things have since evolved.
Major manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola have improved their design. The issue of reliability is no longer on the agenda. There are two morphological factors today to suit all inclinations. For example, you can choose the Galaxy Z Fold 4 if you are looking for a smartphone that can be transformed into a tablet with the comfort of a large screen.
Or choose the Galaxy Z Flip 4 or Motorola Razr if you're looking for a shell-like experience. And this, without breaking radically with the spirit of classic smartphones that are still largely dominant in the market. Here are the best foldable smartphones right now.
SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FOLD 4
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is arguably the best foldable smartphone. Every year, Samsung improves many aspects of the Z Fold to improve its concept and solve problems faced by previous generations.
From an outside point of view, no surprise. This fourth generation exactly takes the design of the Z Fold 3. So we find the 7.6-inch main screen, obviously foldable, with a definition of 1812 × 2176p and an adaptive refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz.External 6.2 inches (904) ×2316 pixels) when the smartphone is folded. This secondary tile is now protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus + window.
In terms of performance, Samsung clearly equips its foldable smartphone with the most powerful chip on the market, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 along with 12GB of RAM.
At the level of image unity, we find the most important development since the Z Fold 4 approached the image quality of the S22. Therefore, the foldable smartphone is equipped with a main sensor with a 50-megapixel wide-angle, an ultra-wide-angle of 12 megapixels and a 10-megapixel telephoto 3x lens. The 4 megapixel selfie sensor is useless because it will be more interesting to use the main unit with the external monitor.
The 4400mAh battery is the same as that of the Z Fold 3 but the autonomy has been slightly improved to save a few tens of minutes. Finally, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is waterproof (IPX8 certified) and compatible with the S-Pen.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is the best-selling model in Samsung's foldable smartphone lineup. Galaxy Z Flip 3 succeeds the 2020 Z Flip and improves it in many respects. The unfolded smartphone features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. When folded, the external display provides a convenient diagonal of 1.9 inches to display notifications and other important information. It also always works.
Thanks to the flexible mode that must be activated in the settings, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 changes the control system by dividing the screen into two when folded at a right angle. The top is reserved for app content. At the bottom, the interface retains a lot of room for different controls.
As for the features of the Galaxy Z Flip 3, it has a Snapdragon 888 5G processor. The same thing is found at the heart of most high-end smartphones of 2021. The SoC supports 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. The only negative point of this foldable smartphone is its small 3300mAh battery whose charging power is limited to 15W.

What is the best foldable smartphone in 2025?
As you will notice, not many models are available on the market. Or at least in France. It is no coincidence that Samsung is the leader in foldable smartphones because it is the only company that regularly serves the French market. Xiaomi made its market debut in April 2021 with the Mi Mix Fold . The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 was also announced this summer, but none of them are currently available in the French market.
As for Huawei, its Mate X line is always renewed. Huawei Mate X2 is the latest representative. We also tested the Huawei P50 Pocket, which uses Samsung's Z Flip format. Despite all its qualities, these are not phones that we can recommend. Huawei is still paying the price for US sanctions. So it is difficult to get these models in France. In addition, they do not have access to Google services.
