Liu Yang of China secures consecutive Olympic gold medals in the rings event.
On Sunday in Paris, the Tokyo champion triumphed in the men's rings final, narrowly defeating his compatriot Zou Jingyuan.
Having already claimed a silver in Monday's team competition, where China was narrowly beaten by Japan, world champion Liu demonstrated remarkable strength during his handstand and displayed impressive steadiness throughout his routine, earning a score of 15.300.
Zou followed closely with a score of 15.233 to take home the silver medal, while Greece’s Eleftherios Petrounias, the bronze medalist from Rio 2016 at the age of 33, landed a solid crucifix and an impressive dismount to secure third place.
Later on Sunday, the women's uneven bars final will be held at the Bercy Arena, notably without US icon Simone Biles, followed by the men's vault final.
