Currently, there is no protection against phishing, a type of cyber attack in which criminals clone a legitimate app or website to obtain users' private data, which is why Google is taking action to prepare Android to detect malicious apps.

That's because we just learned that the big Google is working on implementing a new feature in Android that will warn you of phishing attacks on your mobile phone.

Android Police has discovered in Android 14 QPR2 Beta 2 a hidden page that hides a new feature called Scan for deceptive apps, which will be responsible for checking “app activity for phishing or other deceptive behavior.”

According to Google, this new Android security measure will scan the apps you have installed on your mobile phone through “an analysis that runs privately directly on your device” and if it detects phishing or any other type of malware it will send “some of the app’s information to Google Play Protect to confirm the threat and warn users of the app.”

As you can see in the screenshots that we leave you above these lines, you can access this new anti-phishing function through the following path: Settings> Security & Privacy> More Security & Privacy> Security.

Similarly, Android Police has discovered that in order to detect phishing, Android will use a new system service called “ContentProtection,” which will be responsible for detecting when an app tries to display a password field or when it asks the user for sensitive data such as a username, phone number, email address, or login credentials
