EQS SUV Electric Car Specifications
Mercedes-Benz today unveiled the EQS electric SUV, which is based on another Mercedes model, the EQS, and is the first all-electric SUV to be produced for the American market.
Details about Mercedes EQS SUV
According to Mercedes-Benz, the EQS SUV is identical to the EQS, which was unveiled last year, but with seats for up to seven people and aims to compete with the Tesla Model X and BMW iX models.
The interior of the EQS SUV is sophisticated, with three screens that practically fill the entire dashboard and a passenger screen that is not visible to the driver.
Mercedes-Benz has entered a new era of all-electric vehicles in the top market segments with the EQS luxury sedan and the EQE sports car, according to a version.
The SUVs will begin production at Mercedes-Benz's facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in the coming months, and will debut in U.S. showrooms in late 2022, according to the company.
The German automaker aims to build eight all-new electric vehicles in seven different locations across three continents.
The EQS SUV is not yet priced, but is expected to cost over $100,000, with EQS sedan models starting at around $102,000 and $126,000.
The EQS SUV will be available in two versions initially, including the "580 4MATIC" model with two electric motors producing 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque.
Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed the estimated electric range of the EQS SUV in the United States, but the sedan version, according to the US Environmental Protection Agency, can travel 350 miles on a single charge.
Driver Assistance System
Mercedes-Benz's latest driver assistance system, which can handle vehicle components such as acceleration and braking when activated, is included in the safety and comfort features of the EQS SUV.
The EQS SUV, like the sedan, includes an optional air freshener fragrance called No. 6 Mood Mimosa, which Mercedes-Benz describes as an "earthy fragrance with a touch of allure" specially developed.
