There are many hardware components that make up our desktop computer. But if we focus on laptops, the truth is that the battery and its condition are key to the user experience with these devices.
One of the main objectives of the laptops we mentioned is the mobility and autonomy they offer us. And this is exactly where the component we mentioned in these lines comes into play, the battery. If we maintain it well, we will have several hours without having to connect the computer to the electrical network to work.
On the contrary, a faulty battery can cause us more than a headache, especially if we walk around with our laptop all day. And after years of using this equipment, this component we mention can deteriorate over time. Therefore, we may sometimes think about replacing it. While the rest of the hardware remains valid, the battery causes us many problems, so we can think about changing it.
But first of all, we must consult some kind of report related to this very important hardware element. And this is exactly what we will help you with in the next few lines. Windows offers us something that many of you do not know, which is to create a complete report related to the laptop battery.
To take advantage of it, all we have to do is open a command prompt window with administrator permissions. We do this by typing the CMD command in the search box on the Windows taskbar.
When we are in the command prompt window, we type the following:
powercfg /batteryreport
After a few seconds, the same command will give us the path where the file with the report was stored by default.
It is an HTML file that we can open with any web browser, for example. Therefore, all that remains for us to do is access the disk path and take a look at all the data that will be presented here related to the battery of our computer. - Recent usage : We can see the battery cycles in the last 3 days showing percentages and capacity in milliwatt-hours (mWh).
- Battery Capacity History: This section shows the original capacity of the battery and the full charge capacity over a long period of time.
- Battery Life Estimate: We will see the estimated times of the component over a period of time along with the source capacity estimates.
