WhatsApp is copying one of the most used features in Instagram Stories
WhatsApp is in an open war with Telegram, and Meta is willing to do anything to convince users. Mark Zuckerberg’s company has taken one of Instagram’s most used features into the messaging app’s statuses.
WhatsApp has followed in the footsteps of its sister social network Instagram with better support for music in statuses and a list of custom emojis.
The messaging app has opted for a user experience with greater sticker customization options for statuses, WABetaInfo has discovered . The media outlet analyzed the iOS beta from September and reported that WhatsApp will integrate the “poll” sticker.
This interactive resource for WhatsApp statuses is very similar to the one currently used on Instagram. Meta has not yet brought this feature to the stable version of iOS or Android devices.
Users add a poll with multiple options and contacts can vote. WhatsApp has adopted a similar system to the voting that takes place in chats and adds an Instagram-style “Add yours” function.
The beta version 2.24.23.21 for Android allows users to create a public message thread in the messaging app’s statuses. This feature has been used on Instagram since 2021 and Meta is planning to bring it to the stable version of WhatsApp now.
The messaging app is committed to privacy and Meta is ensuring that the interactions feature is protected with these new stickers. The tech giant has confirmed that polls and “Add yours” are end-to-end encrypted and will only be seen by the users you want to share your statuses with.
WhatsApp continues to work on improvements to stickers and new Instagram-like features, but at the moment it is not confirmed when they will reach the stable version for iOS and Android.
