Learn about the alternative to the tuk-tuk made by the Ministry of Military Production
The Ministry of Military Production is submitting a project for a light vehicle in partnership with the private sector in light of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to submit a future plan that has not been activated before to extend the use of natural gas as fuel for cars and deepen work in various industries, in support of sustainable development plans and strategies in the country by relying on manufacturing capabilities and available local resources..
The Ministry of Military Production, in partnership with a private sector company, submitted a model of a light four-wheeled vehicle, as an alternative proposal project to the "tuk-tuk", as the vehicle is powered by a dual system engine "gasoline / natural gas".
The vehicle will be suitable for working in confined spaces and non-standard roads, and can cover a distance of up to 550 km without refilling 250 km of gasoline and 300 km of natural gas.
Work on the production of the vehicle to run on an electric motor in the middle of next year, this cooperation contributes to the production of more environmentally and natural resources conservation vehicles to ensure their sustainability in order to preserve the rights of future generations.
The vehicle obtained the European E-Mark certificate and the approval of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality for this certificate.

Engineer Mohamed Ahmed Morsi, Minister of Military Production, said that this vehicle is a sample of a proposed project to be implemented between the National Authority for Military Production and one of the private sector companies, GP Auto Ghabbour, to provide a four-wheeled vehicle alternative to the tuktuk, which works with a dual system engine "gasoline / natural gas".
In turn, Nevine Gamea, Minister of Trade and Industry, praised the vehicle and its capabilities, stressing that the vehicle will be produced with a dual system engine «gasoline / natural gas», which reduces the cost of transportation and operation and makes it an environmentally friendly vehicle, adding that this cooperation supports the state's plan to develop the transportation system and provide safe vehicles for citizens.
The Minister of Industry stressed the interest of the political leadership and the Egyptian government in achieving optimal utilization of the Egypt's natural gas wealth and maximizing its added value, which effectively contributes to preserving the environment and reducing air pollution through the use of natural gas as a clean fuel that reduces harmful emissions that have a negative impact on citizens and the economy.
