How to update Zoom
To keep your virtual meetings running smoothly and for an overall stable experience from Zoom, you should update the Zoom app on all your devices. We'll show you how to do it.
Note: If your device is managed by your organization's IT team, you may have to reach out to them to update Zoom.
Update Zoom on desktop
On Windows and Mac, Zoom updates itself automatically. Simply switch to a one-time setting that enables automatic updates. If you are having problems with the update, you can still force a manual update from within the app or download the latest app file from the Zoom website.
On a Linux machine, you do not have the auto-update option in Zoom. You will have to rely on manual update methods.
Update Zoom automatically (Windows and Mac)
To make Zoom automatically download and install app updates, enable a one-time option in the app as follows. Make sure you have administrator rights on your computer, as you will need them to switch between the option.
Start by opening the Zoom app on your computer. Then, in the top-right corner of Zoom, click on your profile icon.
In the left pane, switch to the "Keep zoom to date automatically" option. You may get an administrator router, where you have to select Yes.
Next to the "Keep zoom automatically" option, you have a drop-down menu that allows you to select how often you wish to receive Zoom updates.
The available options are:
Slow : If you select this option, Zoom will get fewer updates but the app experience will be more stable.
Fast: This option will give you more frequent updates, but at the cost of the potential cost of app stability.
Save your settings by closing the "Settings" window.
Update Zoom manually (Windows, Mac, Linux)
If you're using Linux, or if Zoom doesn't seem to update automatically on a Windows or Mac computer, force the app to check for and install new updates.
To do this, first, open Zoom on your computer. Then, in the top-right corner of Zoom, click on your profile icon.
In the menu that opens, click on "Check for updates."
When installing updates, or if no updates are available, close the "Zoom Update" window by clicking "Close".
And Zoom is now updated on your computer. You can now join Zoom meetings using the latest version of the app.
Download and update Zoom (Windows, Mac, Linux)
In case you encounter the problem of Zoom not opening on your computer, or not updating it using the options within the application, download the latest Zoom app from its website and install it on your computer. This way, you will have the latest version of Zoom.
To do this, open a web browser on your computer and access the Zoom Download Center website.
On the site, click on the large "Download" button. This downloads the Zoom app to your computer.
Install the app as usual, and when you're done, you'll be running the latest version of Zoom. Enjoy!
Update Zoom on Android
On Android phones, use the Google Play Store to constantly update Zoom software.
To check for updates, open the Play Store on your phone. Tap the search box at the top and type "zoom" (without quotes).
On the Zoom app page, click the "Refresh" button to update the app. If you don't see this button, it means that your app is already up to date.
You're done.
