How to Find Downloaded Files on Your iPhone or iPad

If you download files to your iPhone or iPad, accessing them can be confusing compared to your Mac or PC. There is a special folder where the iOS Store and iPadOS are downloaded, and you can find it via the Files app.

First, locate the Files app on your iPhone or iPad. The fastest way to do this is by using Spotlight Search. Swipe one finger down from the middle of the home screen, then type "files." Click on "Files" in the search results.

Select the Browse tab at the bottom, then click on "On My iPhone" or "On My iPad", depending on the device you are using.

The menu under "Locations" will vary based on the apps you have installed, but your device will always have a "On My Device" menu.

You will then see a list of folders that, again, will vary based on the applications you have installed. In general, most people save files in the "Downloads" folder, so click on it.

You will see a list of all the files you have downloaded. During the downloading process, you can save a file to a folder other than "Downloads". If you don't see the file you're looking for, click the back arrow in the upper-left, then tap on another folder.

Once you have located the file you want, you can click on it to preview it, or tap and hold to open a pop-up menu. After that, you can move, copy, or rename the file, along with other operations.

When you're done, just exit the Files app. The next time you open the files, the file you are looking for will be where you left off.
