TikTok launches group chat feature for up to 32 people - Tech World

TikTok has launched new updates to its direct messaging system, including the addition of a group chat feature for up to 32 people. ByteDance explained that this feature will allow users to create chat groups of up to 32 people.

Users can start a group chat in two different ways:

  • The first is via the inbox, where you can click on the “Chat” button at the top of the screen or on a name in the message list and then on the “More Options” button.
  • The second method is by sharing a post with a group of people, where you can click on the “Share” button and then choose “Create a group chat.”

Users will be able to accept group chat invitations via their inbox, and only people they follow can be invited to join the group chat.

To ensure the safety of younger users, group chats will not be available to users between the ages of 13 and 15.

For users aged 16 and 17, they can only join a group chat if they have at least one mutual friend in it. If they create a group chat, they will have to manually review and approve anyone new to join.

TikTok also announced the addition of stickers to direct messages, giving users another way to visually interact with each other. The platform will allow users to create and upload custom stickers that anyone can use.
