Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian satellite company Nilesat signed a contract to manufacture the new satellite 301 with the French company Thales Alenia Space on behalf of Egypt.

Four foreign companies have submitted bids to produce new satellites proposed by the Egyptian Satellite Company.

Mubasher website reviewed the most important information and specifications about the new satellite "301" that will replace Nilesat 201:

The satellite took 25 months to build at the company's headquarters in southern France.

The new satellite 301 is scheduled to launch in January 2022.

It has a service life of 15 years and weighs 4.1 tons.

It will include 38 lunar passes, and there are currently 26 lunar passes on Moon 201.

 - According to the agreement signed with the French company Eutelsat, the company recently obtained new frequencies.

 - The new satellite will be expanded to include new areas in addition to the existing ones, as it will cover the countries of Southern Africa and the Nile Basin countries in the context of deepening relations between Egypt and Africa and enhancing exchanges with the peoples of the African continent.

- Nilesat 301 provides broadband internet services covering Egypt and remote areas, and provides internet services for new projects, infrastructure projects, new urban communities and oil fields in the Eastern Mediterranean, especially the Zohr oil field.

The new satellite has been integrated with the “Tiba 1” satellite that was launched at the end of November last year, and Egypt will be able to provide internet services via satellite through two satellites to ensure the security and continuity of services.

 - Nilesat 301 is manufactured with advanced technology that enables it to identify any source of interference by itself, deal with the interference, and provide comprehensive protection for the TV channels operating on it.

It also has the ability to manipulate the antenna to change the coverage area according to the needs of African countries, which is a new market for Nilesat satellites.

It is worth noting that Nilesat 201 will expire in 2028.

It is worth noting that the Central Auditing Organization has reservations about the delay in launching the new satellite 301 by the Egyptian satellite company Nilesat.
