According to WABetaInfo , the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS is implementing a feature to add group descriptions. Content creators can fill in a text field with information they deem relevant. This way, new members will have the option to read it before joining.
Group descriptions are not mandatory, however, WhatsApp recommends that creators use them. One of the pillars of the app is communication, which is why it seeks to ensure clear descriptions in community group chats. Although this feature is already seen in groups, WhatsApp will bring it to communities to expand its functionality.
Community group chat descriptions are available in WhatsApp for iOS 24.16.75. At the moment, this feature is only offered to users who are part of the beta program, so we will have to wait a few weeks to see if it will be implemented in the general public version.
