A new feature in WhatsApp to search for images and know if they are real or modified without leaving the application
We're not talking about selecting a photo from the gallery and sending it in a chat or group. What WhatsApp intends to integrate is a search similar to the one offered by Google for images, allowing users to search for any type of image from the application itself, and of course send it.
This novelty was discovered by WABetaInfo in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android. It is version 2.24.21.31 that showed this feature. The function is intended for users to verify that it is a real image without traces of modifications of any kind.
- WhatsApp will now allow you to search for images from within the app itself.
Although the feature is still under development, some users have managed to get it to work. The main possibility offered by the function is to search for images sent in conversations directly from WhatsApp . The purpose of this is quite clear: to know whether the image is real or has been modified to avoid misunderstandings and the spread of hoaxes.
Activating this new feature is very simple, the photos sent in WhatsApp conversations will now have another option. It will only be necessary to open the menu with three dots in the upper right area and select the option that says "Search on web" which translates to "Search on the web".
After selecting this option, a reverse image search is performed to find its source. Users will be able to know at all times where the image came from, what purpose it was used for, and above all, whether it is an unmanipulated image or whether its use is outside the context of its creation.
The most interesting thing about this feature is its ease of use, which makes it unnecessary to upload the image to a search engine to perform the operation. Now, all you have to do is open the image in WhatsApp and choose to search the web. Unfortunately, there is no release date for this novelty yet, so we will have to stay tuned for changes.
