Microsoft allows you to change the appearance of Outlook using artificial intelligence

From Microsoft, innovation continues at full speed, and now it’s Outlook’s turn. The company has announced a feature that lets users create custom themes using artificial intelligence (AI), adding a unique touch of personalization to its email service.

Users can design themes inspired by over 100 different locations or even choose to base themes on their current geographic location. A notable feature is the ability to choose the frequency of the theme’s update: every few hours, daily, weekly or even monthly. Additionally, you can choose from display styles such as realistic, oil painting or cartoon style.

“If you have location permissions enabled in Outlook, My Location will show you unique images inspired by your environment, and will dynamically update as you move, whether on a trip or on vacation,” Microsoft said in a statement. Additionally, if a weather-based location is selected, it will adjust to reflect real-time weather conditions.

AI-generated themes can be managed through Outlook's appearance settings, providing easy access to activate and customize this new functionality.

With this update, Outlook is ahead of Gmail, which has yet to implement a similar AI-powered custom theme feature, although this capability has appeared in Chrome. This gives Outlook a leg up on the competition to offer more creative options to its users.

The announcement of Themes by Copilot comes alongside other Microsoft innovations. The company recently introduced new AI features to Notepad and Paint. In Notepad, a tool called Rewrite was introduced , which lets you rephrase sentences, adjust tone, and adjust content length automatically. For its part, Paint now includes a suite of AI-powered image editing tools, such as generative fill and a function to remove unwanted objects from images using text commands.

These features are available in beta mode for Windows 11 users in countries such as the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, and Germany.
