How to save passwords on Google Chrome

How to save passwords on Google Chrome

Google Chrome can save your website passwords and help you fill them in automatically the next time you visit your sites. If you haven't already, here's how to enable Chrome's built-in password manager on both desktop and mobile.

Ways to save passwords on Chrome

There are three ways to turn on Chrome's password saving feature. Note that Chrome syncs your passwords with your Google account, which means that if you enable Chrome to save passwords on a single device, this change will automatically be applied to all your signed-in devices.

For example, if you enable the option to save passwords in Chrome on your desktop, the Chrome app on your smartphone will also activate this feature automatically. Thus, you can use the method that is convenient for you.

To enable the Chrome password manager on your Windows, Mac, Linux, or Chromebook computer, first, open Chrome on your computer.

In the upper-right corner of Chrome, click on the three dots.

From the three-dot menu, select "Settings".

On the "Settings" page, in the left sidebar, click "Autofill".

In the "Autofill" section on the left, click on "Passwords".

At the top of the "Passwords" page, enable the "View Save Passwords" option.

Tip: In the future, if you decide that you don't want password prompts from Chrome, turn off the "View Save Passwords" option again.

And that's it. From now on, when you log into a site in Chrome on any of your devices, the browser will ask you to save your password for that site. You can then also view manually saved passwords in Chrome.

Save passwords on Chrome mobile

To get Chrome on your iPhone, iPad, or Android to view saving passwords, open Chrome on your phone.

Tap the three dots in Chrome on your phone. If you're using Android, you'll find these dots in the top-right corner of Chrome. If you are using an iPhone or iPad, you will find these dots in the lower right corner.

In the three-dot menu that opens, click on "Settings".

On the "Settings" page, in the "Basics" section, click on "Passwords".

On the "Passwords" page, switch to the "Save passwords" option.

And that's it. If you ever want, you can delete passwords saved in Chrome on your devices.
Save passwords on Chrome with the Password Manager site
The third way to enable Chrome to save your site passwords is to switch between an option in the Google Password Manager site. The advantage of this option is that it allows you to activate the feature even while you are using a browser other than Chrome.

To use this method, open a web browser on your device and access the Google Password Manager website. Sign in to the site with the same Google Account you use for Chrome.

When the Password Manager site opens, in the upper-right corner, click on "Password Options" (gear icon).

You will reach the "Settings" page. Here, at the top, turn on the "View Save Passwords" option.

You are completely ready.
From now on, no matter what method you used above, Chrome will start asking you to save the passwords on all your signed-in devices. Piece of cake!
