Bloomberg, the economic news agency, said that Meta, which was formerly known as Facebook, is currently developing a smart watch with a front camera and a round screen, according to the image of the device inside one of the technology giant’s iPhone applications, and the image shows - according to the report - a watch with a slightly curved screen and casing. at the edges. The front camera - similar to what you see on a smartphone - appears at the bottom of the screen, and there is a watch control button on the right side.

Bloomberg says the image was found inside the company's app to control the new smart glasses launched in partnership with Ray-Ban. The image was identified by app developer Steve Moser and shared with Bloomberg News. A spokeswoman for Meta declined to comment. To complement what the agency indicated, the new watch has a detachable wrist strap and what appears to be a button at the top of the watch case.

The report adds that the large display simulates the style of the Apple Watch and the camera suggests that the product will likely be used in video conferencing, while the Apple Watch smartwatch does not have a camera, and there are no competing products from companies such as Samsung, for example. This new news comes at a time when Facebook was planning to launch its first watch as early as 2022, but no final decision on timing has been made yet, and the debut may be at a later time, according to a source familiar with the matter.

According to Bloomberg, the same source said the company is working on three generations of the product, aiming for different release time frames.

The device in the photo at the end could represent a version that was never released, but it is the first evidence of the company's work on the project.

The move to smartwatches will escalate the rivalry between Meta and Apple, which have competed over App Store policies and privacy changes in the iPhone operating system. Apple is also planning to release its first mixed reality headset earlier next year, which will compete with the upcoming Meta high-end headset.
