Two popular Windows apps will stop working in 2025
With the beginning of each year, new promises and also different changes come, and it is very likely that one of them will not please you if you have Windows.
We all know that Microsoft is urging you to use the new Outlook for Windows, and thus stop using the classic mail and calendar apps in Windows 11.
But what was not known is that the classic Calendar and Mail apps in our Windows operating system are just a few days away from stopping working forever.
As you may have noticed on Windows Latest , there's a new support document that states that users won't be able to send or receive emails using the Mail and Calendar apps after December 31, 2024.
It was already known that Microsoft would end support for these apps on December 31, but it was not known what would happen as of January 1, 2025 with these apps.
That is, starting January 1, 2025, you will no longer be able to send or receive emails through these classic apps, and you will be required to use the new Windows-based Outlook to do so.
Interestingly, there will be an option for you to open the classic Mail and Calendar apps after their support date to view only your old data and emails. What you won't be able to do is receive or send any email in them.
It remains to be seen if Microsoft will release a future update so that these classic apps cannot be opened after December 31, 2024.
That is, you should use Outlook in the new Windows 11 starting January 1, because it has all the classic calendar and mail features already built in.
