Photos for Windows is an alternative to Windows Photo Viewer and in Windows 11 it has undergone a comprehensive redesign and many improvements and can make you dispense with downloading external programs to accomplish simple tasks such as converting image and video formats or cutting video clips and more. - Multi-view mode to compare images
Place the photos you want to compare in one folder and open the first photo in the Photos app, then press the letter F on the keyboard and a bar will appear at the bottom showing thumbnails of the other photos in the same folder. Check the photo you want to compare to the current open photo and they will be displayed on one screen.
- Convert image formats
However, the application can modify the dimensions of the images and adjust the levels of brightness, contrast, etc. It enables you to convert the image format without affecting the quality. After opening the image in the Photos application, press the menu button at the top and choose Save as to display the save location window, click on the Save as type menu and choose the desired format from among the 8 available formats, which are jpg, jpeg, jpe, jxr, png, tif, tiff, and bmp, then press Save to save the image at the same resolution with a different format
- Modify image dimensions, size and quality.
The resize feature in the Photos app allows you to change the dimensions of any image and also control its quality. Open the image in the Photos app and from the menu button (⋯) at the top choose Resize and another window will appear where you can specify the width and height in percentage or pixels and from the Quality indicator you can adjust the final image quality (the image size after any adjustment is displayed at the bottom of the window) When you reach the desired image size, click Save to save another copy of the image
- Extract a snapshot from the video with the same quality
Open the video in the Photos app, then pause the scene and instead of using the Screenshot tool, tap the menu button (⋯) from the bar at the bottom and choose Save a frame to ask you where to save this full shot.
