Encrypt any hard disk on your computer with a password
How to encrypt any hard disk in your computer with a password without using any external programs
Privacy is one of the main concerns today in the digital world. Whether it's on the Internet or even in personal files, if we don't take it seriously we risk putting our information at risk. To add more security to files on the device, or on an external disk, Windows has a feature to encrypt them through BitLocker.
Open the "Start Menu" and search for "Control Panel";
Click on "System and Security";
Find the option "BitLocker Drive Encryption" and click on it;
Select the disk you want to encrypt, next to it click "Turn on BitLocker";
A preparation process for encrypting the selected hard drive will begin. When done, put the password;
Choose one of the options to save the backup copy of your encryption key, which you can use in case you forgot the password specified in the previous step.
Choose whether to encrypt the entire drive, or only specific portions of the disk in use. We recommend encrypting the entire drive;
On the last screen, if you are using the latest version of Windows, a warning will be displayed regarding the encryption compatibility. Select a compatible profile, to be able to access the file on devices using other versions of Windows;
On the final screen, click "Start Encryption," and wait for the process to complete.
Once the process is completed, when trying to access the encrypted disk, you will be prompted for the password. If you want to remove the encryption for some reason, just follow the fourth step, and use the "My Tax Unlock" option. All encrypted disks will have a lock on the side as shown below.
