This AI App Cracks Passwords In Less Than A Minute Try It On Your Password
PassGAN is an AI-based application that can decrypt passwords in less than a minute to show you how weak you think your data protection is.
Passwords, whether for email, banking or any other application, are still a pending problem for many because they are made in mistakes, which are very disastrous if you want to keep your data safe.
To solve this serious problem, PassGAN, developed by a team of researchers from Home Security Heroes, is a machine learning model that decrypts and generates secure passwords to address this problem. To do this, this AI decrypts passwords to demonstrate how simple it is: it can do it in less than half a minute.
PassGAN is a generative adversarial network (GAN) that uses a training dataset to learn patterns and generate passwords. It consists of two neural networks: a generator and a discriminator. The generator generates new passwords, while the discriminator evaluates whether a password is real or fake.
“Passwords longer than 18 characters are generally safe against AI password crackers, with PassGAN taking at least 10 months to crack passwords consisting of only numbers and 6 quintillion years to crack passwords containing symbols, numbers, lowercase and uppercase letters,” they explained on the site.
It's true that in the end no password is 100% secure, but as long as you use best practices for password security, you have nothing to fear from PassGAN or any other AI-based application.
To answer it and know how long it might take to crack your password, go to the site and enter the password and it will tell you the time, for example, in the case of the password you entered, it takes 48 minutes.
