Learn the keyboard shortcuts you'll need when watching YouTube
YouTube is one of the most visited sites in the world for both learning and entertainment. While using YouTube, we need to control the video that is playing, whether by stopping, advancing, delaying, etc., and we do all of this using the mouse. However, what most of us do not know is that the video can be controlled using keyboard shortcuts specific to YouTube, without resorting to the computer mouse, which we will learn about in this post.
Play any video on YouTube and try the following shortcuts:
• J key makes the video rewind 10 seconds.
• L key makes the video advance by 10 seconds.
• K key stops and plays the video at the shot you want.
• 0 key will go back to the beginning of the video.
• The number keys from 1 to 9 allow you to skip the video by percentage. Each number takes you forward by a certain percentage, starting with 10% for number 1, 20% for number 2, and so on.
• The most important keys “ up/down ” control the volume level.
• F key to enlarge the size of the YouTube video to the full browser screen. To exit this mode, press the “ Esc ” key.
There are also many other abbreviations that we leave to you to discover for yourself.
These shortcuts to control YouTube videos without the need to use the mouse work on Windows, Mac, Linux and almost all browsers.
