Why you should use 9H hardness glass screen protector the strongest yet

In the past, we have talked a lot about screen protectors and even recommended several of them for different smartphones and many of them offer a 9H hardness level. If you don’t know what 9H hardness is, don’t worry, because in this article we will explain it to you clearly.

-What is 9H hardness?

9H hardness is a value that corresponds to the scale of mineral hardness known as the "Mohs scale". It was designed by a German geologist and mineralogist named Friedrich Mohs in 1812.

This scale has ten levels of hardness, with level nine being the second hardest level that can be achieved in nature. To better understand this, here are the ten levels of the scale:

1H - Talcum powder (softest): Can be scratched by almost anything.

2H – Gypsum: Can be scratched with a fingernail.

3H – Calcite: Can be scratched with a copper coin.

4H – Fluorite: Can be scratched with an iron nail.

5H - Apatite: Can be scratched with a knife.

6H - Orthoclase (also known as feldspar or periclase): Can be scratched with a steel nail.

7H - Quartz: Can be scratched with steel sandpaper.

8H – Topaz: Can be scratched with tungsten carbide tools.

9H – Corundum: Can be scratched by diamonds or silicon carbide tools.

The hardness of a screen protector or any other material is determined by a test designed by the International Standards Organization (ASTM). The test consists of holding pencils of different hardnesses on a surface at a 45-degree angle and looking for marks, it's that simple.

-Does it really matter how hard the screen protector is?

Now that you know what 9H hardness is and how it is determined, you should definitely believe that having a screen protector with this level of hardness is a guarantee that it does not mean that your phone's screen glass will never be damaged.

Hardness level is important, but so is the material the screen protector is made of, as well as the materials it comes into contact with.

For this reason, to provide a high level of protection for your phone screen, we recommend a glass screen protector with a hardness of 9H, but this does not mean that it is not exposed to scratches due to contact with different strong materials, but it is more resistant than other levels.
